Get Involved

At West City we believe in an inclusive culture, and we strive to create a sense of belonging and loyalty. Our Club isn’t just about the people who play ball for us, but also the hard working volunteers who make Baseball happen, whether it be our Coaches, Scorers, Managers or Board Members.  We believe the strength of a Club comes from its members & is very rewarding. We welcome any volunteers who wish to get involved.

Coaching

We can’t have baseball without Coaches! For West City to develop, we must develop our Coaches.

All Coaches need to be accredited through Baseball New Zealand’s Coaching programme, and West City will support you on this journey.

Coaches are responsible for teaching & growing our players skills in all aspects of the game – throwing, catching, hitting, pitching and most importantly – the fundamentals & rules of the game.

Umpiring

Umpiring can be daunting, yet challenging and rewarding. Without our Volunteer umpires we can not play Baseball.

All umpires need to obtain accreditation, which can be provided by attending Umpiring sessions through the Auckland Baseball Association.

Becoming an Umpire not only helps your Club, but there are many opportunities to increase your accreditation and umpire to a National or even International level.

Scoring

A great opportunity to support your team or Club is through Scoring, and without Volunteer Scorers our players can’t play ball.

All scorers need to complete the Baseball New Zealand Online Scoring Clinics, and West City will support you with this.

Becoming a Scorer is challenging, but very rewarding and there are opportunities to grow as a Scorer and take it to the next level.

Team Manager

The Team Manager is normally a parent of child within the team, and will generally be the ‘organiser of the team’. Team Manager responsibilities include updating Heja app with game schedules, team communication, helping with organising the team for events (i.e. Nationals), co-ordinating players, uniforms etc.
